Thursday 17th June - Torun

Happy Birthday Josh...if I am 25 that makes you 28 right???

We got a day pass here which took us to various churches; look out towers, ancient ruins and museums etc. We had a fit of giggles in one museum as the exhibits were slightly boring (it didn’t help the explanations were all written in Polish) to say the least, we were the only people in there and we seemed to be surrounded by staff who kept opening endless doors for us so there was no means for escape and we had to look remotely interested. We traipsed around on cobbled streets within the ancient walls being followed by screaming kids that were obviously being bribed by teachers to behave by being given cross bows, swords and guns that went bang! The one thing that we were really looking forward to was being able to bake our own ginger bread which Turon is famed for but unfortunately the little shits…I mean children on school excursions had booked it out!
A famous astronomer named Copernicus (we have since found out its pronounced co-pernicious) was born in Turon in the 15th century so we went to his house were he studied. Bek got a funny look when she asked for directions to his house and pronounced his name copper knickers!
